5.2 DC Sweep Analysis

  1. Select input port 'in' from the schematic. Then from the main menu bar:

    Setup -> Analysis...

    A dialog box will appear as shown in Fig 5-4. Click on 'DC Sweep' for DC sweep analysis. Enter '0' in the 'Start Value' field and '5' in the 'Stop Value' field. Then click on 'OK'.

    Note:If you are familiar with Spice netlist, you can check the netlist by selecting from the main menu bar:

    Report -> Netlist

  2. Before you run your circuit, remember to keep the data of all the circuit nodes by selecting from the main menu bar:

    Add -> Keeps...

    Click on 'All' for the 'Add Keeps' dialog box then click on 'OK'

  3. To run your circuit, click on 'Run' icon from the right side palette. A dialog box will prompt for signals that need to be kept. Accept all the default settings by clicking on 'OK'.

  4. It takes a couple of seconds to run the simulation. After that, select output port 'out' from the schematic. Click on 'Chart' on the right side palette. The output waveform chart will be created in another window as shown in Fig. 5-5.

  5. To see the relation between input voltage and current drawing from the VCC, select from the main menu bar:
    Results -> WF Processor

    WF Processor windown will appear as shown in Fig. 5-6.

  6. Select 'Y' and click on 'I', move cursor to schematic window. Select the net connected to 'VCC'.

  7. Select 'X' and click on 'V', move cursor to schematic window. Select the input port 'in'. Then click on 'Chart'.

  8. Another dialog box will prompt for the place to put your chart as shown in Fig. 5-7. Select 'Existing Chart' for 'Chart to' field and select 'New' for 'Y-axis' field.
